After weeks of asking, we finally took Dev bowling. Her interest was sparked when Matt bought a Wii and she fell in love with Wii Bowling.
When Devin woke up this morning, her first words were:
"Is today real bowling Mama?"
We arrived and showed Devin the steps of going bowling.
Shoes!
This bowling alley was the coolest! The bumpers go up and down for each bowler and Devin had a ramp for her ball.
6 lbs. is lightest ball they provide and it takes all her strength to lift and carry it to the ramp. Matt would line it up & she would hoist the ball up and push it off.
Plus, lots of dancing in our slippery shoes!
Whack a shark!
It took every trick in the book to get her to leave...even then we had a few screams and lots of tears. Let's just say she had a really good time.
Matt promised to bring her back this week, since he's on vacation:)
Oh yeah. The scores?
Matt: 115
Devin : 114
Mama: Under 100....way under.
Tomorrow?
The Wiggles Live. Her first real show!

Kentucky State Fair 2009
We skipped 2008 KSF. I think it was just. to. hot. What a summer we've had in Kentucky. Highs in the upper 70's, plenty of rain and just enough sunshine:)
This was our trip to KSF 2007.
I admit. It makes me so teary:(
Ok. I've gathered myself for the 2009 visit:
39" Tall. And I wasn't going to push it.
But, there were so many rides for her...we had to limit it to about 8. Unfortunately, I was being super lazy about picture taking. It's hard to live without my rented lens:(
She eventually (and decisively) chose a white, blow-up pony.
My little daredevil was eager to try to roller coaster. Let me say...this was the real deal for someone her size. The G-Forces were enough to lift her 34 lb body up and around that seat. My pictures are proof she was having fun...as soon as the ride started, I wasn't so sure she was going to like it.
Thankfully, at the last second, a little girl jumped on and chose (on her own accord) to sit right next to Devin. Nobody else on the ride!
Meet Spoonman.
Devin loved it!
Us? Not so much. I could only tolerate 10 minutes and we made a graceful escape.
It's a "real lady."

Date Night
Our first overnight date in 4 years! Matt found a Suite for us here:
We checked in to cloudy skies and drizzle. It was cool enough for a sweater. In August!
Within an hour the clouds were gone, so we went on a walk around our hotel.
Downtown Indianapolis was hopping on Saturday.
I said, "Look at the chicken limo!"
I was right!
Dinner was amazing. Really. It was one of those dinners we won't soon forget.
I consumed about 8 oz of a 10 oz FRESH Australian Lobster Tail.
Then Baked Alaska for dessert.
We had a great date night, but we both missed our little Devin running around.
It was weird walking the mall without her. And very weird, waking up without her.

1st Day of Preschool~Speed Bumps (Humps)
Don't let the worried look fool you! Devin had a great 1st Day of 3-Year old preschool.
Thankfully, our request for the same teachers was granted. They're even in the same classroom, with some of the same kids.
What a difference from last year...when they called after 30 minutes of intense crying.
Once we got to school, she was confident and happy.
YAY!
The BIG news...our Speed Humps finally arrived.
I was picturing the rubberized smaller bumps, but these will do!
They're HUGE 15 mph "humps." Which slow folks waaaaaaaay down. There's 5 of these monsters down the main road.
Matt took some pictures of our fun last night. He went and bought a small bouncy house for Devin. It's just like the real thing, but smaller.
Our plan worked. She bounced herself into a frenzy, took a bath and slept for 11 hours without a peep.
Last piece of news....alert the media. Matt and I are going on an overnight date tonight. It's only been 4 years. The last time we went to Indy overnight, I came back pregnant with Devin.
NOT THIS TIME:)
We're driving to Indianapolis to eat here: Oceanaire Seafood Room
And see this show: Kathy Griffin Live

Back To School and Gifts
Tomorrow is Dev's first day of preschool. Which isn't really that big a deal, since we did summer camp.
Still, we went to ALL the events.
On Monday, we went to the all-school picnic.
Dev and Allie found each other...they went to summer camp apparently.
Allie was very protective of Devin, as they stood in line to bounce.
Grandma and Grandpa visited and brought some amazing gifts.
I finally have a curio cabinet! My china sees the light of day after 13 years!
And, Grandma's been working on a quilt for Devin...for months. It's done & beautiful:)
Wow!

Visitors, Fossils & Candy
Matt's parents made the trip this weekend. GaGa came up with the idea for our entertainment:
The Falls of the Ohio State Park
It's a good thing her camera can be dropped.
It was (dropped) at least 5 times in the first 10 minutes.
Get it? Devonian?
I was actually surprised to learn the last of the 2 ice ages brought glacier ice this far south.
Dev just thought there were a lot of cool rocks.
And, then she was getting hot.
Then she asked incessantly, "Is it time for the candy shop?"
So, we made our way to Schimpff's.
Very cool!
It really has the old time candy shop feel.
We hung out long enough to watch a batch of Red Hots being poured.
Dev ate her way through a Chocolate Fire Truck sucker, lemon drop and multiple other treats.
Not the best dentist day ever...but fun nonetheless.
Ray & Ann also brought some gifts. (Some really cool stuff that deserves its' own post)
And, I have to return the rented lens tomorrow:(
