We added some final touches to the new kitchen.
These pendant lights were installed by our electrician/tennis pro friend, Rick.
There was one good day of rain this week. Which made for perfect puddle stomping weather.
Last night's beautiful evening....

Memorial Day 2009
Garden Week 5. Things look great, except for the Green Beans.
Zinnia from seed, Marigolds from Plant Kingdom.
The Zinnia are a "Giant" variety.
Cabbage.
Bean Beatles eating my poor Green Beans to death.
We can't use Sevin, although I think some folks are. It's not allowed in the garden, so I bought an Organic alternative and will hope for the best. I think other people in the garden are using it, but whatever.
The warm and humid weather was perfect for busting out the pool. Devin LOVES playing in the pool, way more than last year. She's thoroughly entertained for HOURS...just like the box said!
Even though, this pool would not hold air and we're returning.

Garden Celebs
Just in case you missed the big front page article...
So, Suri and Katie we're not. (Nor would I want to be:)
But, our article is on the bulletin board at Starbucks and 2 garden mates have mentioned it....this is the big time!
Actually, Matt was busy sledgehammering my tomato stakes while Dev & I played at the park. He was leaving & let me know the reporter wanted to talk to me.
After about 30 minutes, Dev and I went through her usualtotal meltdown difficulty leaving the park. She was a snotty, angry, thirsty mess when I met with the reporter. Oh, I almost forgot...I was carrying all 34 lbs through the gate and grazed her leg on fence.
Seriously, you would have thought her leg had just been severed.
Thus, no pictures of my ever so photogenic 3 year old.
The on-line article doesn't show the best part! She took a picture of my row marker for the Green Beans:
A picture just like this one appeared at the top of the inner article as did a non-upset little girl.
And now I'm famous in the garden...
"Rock Lady."

Happy Mother's Day & 3 Year Check-Up
Mother's Day 2009 was a beautiful day. Matt figured out a way to combine golf and the special day by taking us to the Par 3 course. (Sneaky)
Look at this shot! It was nearly a hole-in-one, most certainly a Birdie....go Gaga:)
Devin and I spent some time inspecting the stream and throwing rocks...I'm sure the water is full of hazardous chemicals and e.coli, but it looked and sounded pretty.
At 12 noon, we realized getting into a restaurant was going to be a challenge. Our end of town turns into Loony Tune land around any commercialized holiday. Seriously, the Summit was gridlocked.
Dev noticed Steak n' Shake & shouted, "that would be fun!"
It was. We were seated right away and enjoyed the cheap eats.
I gardened while Matt & Devin both slept the afternoon away. Golf is tiring! Matt fixed homemade pizza for dinner while Dev and I planted some tomatoes, cucumbers and watermelon.
Dev's 3 Year Check up was today. Some stats:
She's 33.8 lbs (72nd percentile...meaning about 75% of American children at her age weigh less)
She's 38" tall (78th percentile...about 80% of American children are shorter)
Combined, she has a healthy height/weight ratio and is right where she should be.
So, that wasn't news...she's clearly taller than other kids her age and eats like a horse most of the time.
She's stayed consistent with one thing...her head size! She's got mama's big ol' melon. I can't remember the number, but her head size in the 90th percentile. Meaning...just about everyone has a smaller head than Devin. More room for brains, I say! Seriously though, it's well within the "normal" range, as a very large (or growing) head can indicate certain problems.
We did a finger stick to check her blood counts, which were all normal. She handled it like a pro.
Everything else was perfect...which I already knew.

The World From Devin's Eye
I guess it was 2 years ago when Matt bought Devin her first camera.
The Fisher Price one...made for dropping!
For about a year, she really couldn't do much with it. She would take about 250 pictures of her face, the walls, ceiling, etc...
So, today she asks me: "Can we connect my camera to the computer? To see the pictures? On the screen?
I actually forgot her camera has a USB port. So, I download 378 pictures.
I was thrilled find these:
According to my shirt, this was from Halloween.
Starbucks!

Garden Week 2
We've had some rain the past few days. It looks like a decent river of water tends to run through my garden during heavy downpours.
I'll have to re-plant some of the seeds...
Here's a Week 2 picture.
Devin had one day of relative health before she got sick again.
We're all fighting allergies/sinus infection/lower respiratory junk. Poor Dev has the worst of it. She woke up sick in the night last night, from swallowing so much snot. Yuck!
