Moving Right Along

We had successful Transportation Day at preschool this year. It's always a fun day for the kids and exhausting for the teachers/parents!

Otherwise, we've been chugging along through regular life this week:)

In October, we're preparing to enter a special section of Hell, reserved for the truly insane...we're driving to Florida. With a 4-Year old. I know, I know...but the airline tickets were outrageous & I think it will be an adventure!

Also, it's time to start looking for Devin's next school. Kentucky's schools (including some East End Elementary schools) are failing to meet basic standards. They are some of the worst in the Nation according to test scores. There's also a lovely forced deseg program. Basically, there's a chance Devin wouldn't be allowed to attend her resides school a mile away. She would be bussed 45 minutes (one-way) for Kindergarten. No thank you.

We toured the Louisville Montessori School yesterday, during an open house. (Devin didn't go, as we thought it would just confuse her) We LOVED it and think Dev will too. It's across the street & in a brand new facility. I've been researching the Montessori method for about a year and I'm so impressed. So, we'll begin the process of applying in a few weeks.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around her being gone from 8:00-2:45 everyday, in less than a year:(

I know you'll have a wonderful trip, road trips can be tough, but there are lots of ways to make it an exciting adventure, even for a 4 yr old! Sadly, we are looking at the decline in quality of the schools here in NJ, I hope you can find a school you like for Dev.
