A Pink Floyd Experience

Our evening began at Z's Fusion, downtown. It's an offshoot of one of our all-time favorite Louisville restaurants, Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse.

I laughed at the sight of edamame.

20 minutes prior to taking this picture, I fixed Dev a HUGE serving of edamame or "sushi beans."

The food was outstanding, with an Asian influence.

Our table faced a glass wall to Market Street and 4th. Pretty much the hub of activity in the downtown area.

The mounted police noticed I was trying to take their picture...and kindly brought the horse right to the window.

Now the whole restaurant was looking our way!

Photobucket

The drinks were too good!
Photobucket

We finished dinner, just in time to make a quick change for the concert.

This is William's shirt from a real Pink Floyd concert, many years ago.
Photobucket

It was an excellent show!

Intermission.

Photobucket

It wouldn't be a Pink Floyd tribute concert without a flying pig.

So here it is....

A night on the town

On a Wednesday of all nights. We're (Matt, William and myself) going to this:

The Pink Floyd Experience

But, first we're dining at a new restaurant called Z's Fusion, right next door to the theater.

Tickets are courtesy of William...we always try to go to anything Pink Floyd. Mom's lined up to watch Devin & I'm skipping tennis practice.

I never skip tennis practice unless I'm (or Dev) is really sick. So, this better be good.

The Weekend

We were bored and a little cabin-feverish, so we ventured to Incredible Dave's.

It's an interesting mix of entertainment for children and...well...alcohol for adults.

Don't let their tag line fool you. The food is horrendous & overpriced.

The fun is, pretty fun! There's a bouncy thing for toddlers, which is free. We let her bounce and run around for an hour...which led to a good afternoon nap. Yay.
Photobucket

Lots of games!
Photobucket

Lots of tickets.
Photobucket

We stared at the fish during lunch. Devin had lots of questions about the wood being underwater.
Photobucket

Wal Mart is setting up for gardening, so I bought this gardening bucket for Devin.

Devin put this on Baxter and I RAN to get the camera.

Can you guess what the plastic ring is from?

That's right!

The best $40.00 I've spent.

This activity continued for an hour, until hunger outweighed her desire to bounce.

Wordless Wednesday

I meant to post these yesterday, with no words.

It was a long day.

Anyway, this was one of my Valentine's presents...(x2!!)

Dev's on the mend....still a runny nose & cough. No fever.

Happy Late Valentine's Day

Someone would not cooperate for my VDay pictures.

Photobucket

Have you ever seen a doll this creepy? Ever?

It weighs at least 5 lbs and looks freakishly real from a distance. I can't stand to touch it.
Photobucket

The creepy doll doesn't seem to bother anyone else.

When it rains....

  • Devin has a nasty, nasty cold.
  • The Volvo hit a pothole so big, it put a hole in the tire and bent the wheel. (New wheel ordered) Obviously, not drivable. Let's hope for no snow/ice.
  • Went to grill an awesome sirloin from Grandpa's farm...forgot to turn off the gas last time we used the grill and that was the back-up tank.
  • The new dishwasher quit mid-cycle and we had to basically destroy the counter to get it back out. (Some wire was just loose enough to stop the machine) Estimates are pending to replace our counter tops, sink & back splash.

The February Visit

What a weekend!

Grandpa & Grandma Williams arrived Friday night & Devin stayed up to see them. After a few hours of puzzles, she collapsed into bed.

She slept until 8:30 am...a new late sleeping record. Then we went to the new Wild Eggs in Westport Village.

Photobucket

She wondered about the powdered sugar.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Nice Bourbon.
Photobucket

Photobucket

We always play Canasta. It's easy and fun...I like to watch Ann pick up the pile!!
Photobucket

It's parachute and bubble time!
Photobucket

We had to say goodbye this morning, but we'll see you in March!
Photobucket

Oh, yeah.

I lost my tennis match in a 3rd set tiebreaker.

Although I played well overall, I was very disappointed. In fact, I'm still bummed about it the next morning...which is not like me.

I'll get em' next time.

The End of the Week/Potty Milestone

What a great week!

We all missed Mom, while she soaked in the SoCal sunshine...but we managed without her.

Not the best picture below...the flash was off and Dev was moving.

However, it does illustrate Dev's new favorite way to "help."
Photobucket

We're learning new ways to keep Dev occupied at the grocery. One of the best ways, is to have her help. When she has her own cart, she's all business. It's about as focused & compliant as she gets.

Plus, it's funny. She follows right behind me. And thanks me for everything I put in the cart. This method is perfect for quick trips, when we just need a few things. I haven't tried getting my own regular cart, while she has a little cart. (Even the small carts are a bit big and we "crashed it" yesterday at Whole Foods)

Several times a week, we have to choose where to shop.

Here's the grocery store rundown in Dev's mind:

-Meijer-has toys, has 2 crane games, free cookies, no special carts, no small carts
-Kroger-no toys, no crane game, free cookie, car carts, small carts (only 2)
-Wal Mart-has toys, 4 crane games, a Barney car, no cookie, no special or small carts
-Whole Foods-No toys, no crane game, no cookie, plenty of small carts

Potty Learning Update: As usual, Dev's doing things her own way. She's been using the potty for poo-poo 100% for 6 months now. I've only seen her pee-pee on the potty once or twice and never on command. She tells us immediately when she has a wet diaper, but never sooner.

We tried all the standard tricks, but she was not interested and not ready.

Until this week!

I casually asked her if she wanted to pee-pee on the potty after her nap the other day. She surprised me with a "yes mama."

Sure enough, after about 5 minutes....she DID it!

Later that day, she asked Matt if she could use the potty...and DID it!

This continued all week, after naps and in the morning. Yesterday, she wore the same diaper all day with no accidents.

The weird part? She wants NO part of ANY underwear. I tried all the tricks. We've got Hello Kitty, Princess, Tinkerbell and Elmo. She won't wear them for 30 seconds.

She's asked for Cars and Thomas underwear...but they don't make "girl" underwear in "boy" themes. I think that's very gender biased and stupid.

So, I guess we'll just keep moving along her way.

Grandpa and Grandma drove in last night and she stayed up late to see them arrive. We played puzzles with her until after 10:00.

Lots of pictures later....

An amazing day

It was the perfect storm. Grandma's in Mexico, preschool canceled again for ice and snow, 15 degrees outside...lots of time on my hands.

For the 3rd time in a week someone asked me, "Are you on Facebook?"

Because I really need another way to waste time.

So, I broke down and updated my profile. I searched for a few old names, which led me to more old names and so on.

Within hours, I made contact with a majority of my old friends from high school and college. It was amazing to see how people had changed...and not changed. And, it was comforting to know how many old friends seem happy. Of course, most people don't cover their Facebook page with "My life's a wreck" buttons and "I'm miserable" tickers....but my initial impression was folks were just about where they wanted to be.

And that's pretty cool.

It's also freaking me out a bit.

-My very best high school friend is doing what she loves...happy & healthy. So awesome.

-I heard from my cousin. It's been at least 20 years.

-One friend has a son who is a freshman in high school.

-It's been over 20 years since I heard from a certain Junior High friend.

-And, I heard from my first boyfriend/first love/high school sweetheart. (Who gently broke my heart when I went away to college) I chuckled when I saw he married a blond. I just knew he had a thing for us....

Ice Ice Baby

Photobucket

This picture shows just how thick the ice was.
Photobucket

Yes...I took this while driving. But, I stopped for a second to admire the beauty.
Photobucket

Yesterday it warmed to almost 50 degrees and most of the ice is gone. They actually had to issue warnings for falling ice...we could hear it crashing down all day.

I'm still hoping for one big snow this winter. No ice, just snow. And, snowman building snow would be nice.
